Mission Accomplished! - phase 1

Once the demolition was done, construction on reforming the structure started. First, the entire first floor was elevated for about 6" to form a better base for flooring later. On top of that, another 6" high platform between bathroom and kitchen in the hallway was created to give the space a clearer definition.

Then the loft floor was also elevated for about 14" resulting the ceiling height of lower storage to increase from 4'8" to 5'6" while that of loft area to reduce from 7'7" to 6'5". In this way, the lower storage was turned into another functional room, in fact, I made it a laundry room.

Next, the loft closet, which was unbelievably inefficient due to its height and depth, was expanded to accommodate my full size mattress - yes, I turned it into my bedroom.

In addition, the stair case was relocated and expanded.
