Mission Accomplished! - phase 3

Next came wall painting and tiling. When I first told my contractor that I'd like to have eight different colors for the unit, he thought that was a joke. Once he realized I was being absolutely serious, he insisted that it was a "custom paint" job and I had to pay extra for that, but I pointed out to him that the statement "paint throughout unit"on the contract did not specify the number of paint. After several rounds of intense negotiation, I finally gave up and paid additional 2 grand for wall painting. Though expensive, the job was done beautifully.




The bathroom is a big part of the entire project. Original bath tub was completely removed to give way to a new shower room. The wall was covered with glass mosaic and a long shelf was built in the wall.



The espresso colored vanity was picked up from Expo Design Center and to be tiled with glass mosaic as well.
Kitchen cabinetry was another surprise for my contractor when I announced that I would order from IKEA. I am sure the chance of meeting a client who demands both "custom paint" and IKEA kitchen is pretty rare to my contractor. I nevertheless managed to make him put aside his Hoboken contractor ego as well as the popular bias against IKEA among all contractors and learn to work with IKEA kitchen.
